Can't Stop The Rain
We drift over the ups and downs
One ship’s story of every life
Someone’s dream of sweet salvation
And another’s daily strife
Tossing and turning every night
An endless struggle to carry on
Our eyes are fixed on the horizon
Because the land we left is gone.
The waves tumble in the distance
Side to side and fore to aft
Rays of sun shine through the mist
A subsistence of the wrath
Vibrations of a mental thunderstorm
Shake the very hearts inside our chests
Do what you can to make things better
And try to forget the rest.
The swells of today will reach the shore
Tomorrow will surely bring a new
Just take a deep breath and go on
Sometimes it’s all that you can do
And as we weather through this storm
Do not lose sight of how you feel
Because at the end of everyday
It’s the only thing that’s real.
One ship’s story of every life
Someone’s dream of sweet salvation
And another’s daily strife
Tossing and turning every night
An endless struggle to carry on
Our eyes are fixed on the horizon
Because the land we left is gone.
And the wind softens the echoes
That move through skies of gray.
Dry the falling salt from your eyes
As I did yesterday
Still we fade into the fog
So uncertain of what remains
Although the blue sky meets the ocean
I can’t ---- stop the rain…
The waves tumble in the distance
Side to side and fore to aft
Rays of sun shine through the mist
A subsistence of the wrath
Vibrations of a mental thunderstorm
Shake the very hearts inside our chests
Do what you can to make things better
And try to forget the rest.
The swells of today will reach the shore
Tomorrow will surely bring a new
Just take a deep breath and go on
Sometimes it’s all that you can do
And as we weather through this storm
Do not lose sight of how you feel
Because at the end of everyday
It’s the only thing that’s real.
And the wind softens the echoes
That move through skies of gray.
Dry the water from your eyes
Just as I did yesterday
Still we fade into the fog
So uncertain of what remains
Although the blue sky meets the ocean
I can’t – stop the rain…
